Luísa Nóbrega

Luísa Nobrega is a performer and actress. She graduated from the School Theater Célia Helena and nowadays studies drama at the Dramatic Art School (EAD) and philosophy both at the University of São Paulo. She was a member of Menagerie, part of a larger project called “Al Revés“, contemporary music group (www.alreves.org), developing vocal improvisations, what she is still doing solo. Luísa has also been part of several groups of experimentation in drama and at the moment she works with “Companhia de Ensaio“ under direction of Leonardo Antunes.

As actress Luísa took part in several plays such as: “Três Estações“, directed by Leonardo Antunes, “(A)tentados“ by Roberto Lage, „Roberto Zucco“ by Plínio Soares and “Catléia“ by Verônica Fabrini.

Luísa still studies contemporary dance with Lu Favoretto, Débora Salgueiro, Helena Bastos and Adriana Grechi, with whom she also studies new dance.

She has taken many courses with Cristiane Paoli Quito, Vladimir Teplyakov, Carlos Simioni (LUME) and with the Vertigo Theater (Teatro da Vertigem).

Her work for project Expedição Francisco will be basecally to navegate the river wearing a blindfold, from the begin to the end of the trip. She intends to explore the instability of a body on a large route without any control or influence of it. A body that keeps a precary balance similar to a boad on the water.

A work which will be moving near to a performatic "language", almost a prolongation and perversion of her theater work. The move near to the visual art is almost an inappropriate intrusion, a displacement by itself, and, in her thought, the best way to dialogue with the visuality would be to radicalize this displacement. To lose the sight during a way which would bring in the end another sight, a transformed one.

With a small tape recorder, she will register her vocal improvisations, interferences with local sounds and noises. With Deyson Gilbert, she will also make performances with repetitive actions for instance: "I will jump in the water and he will bring me back, so many times leading to exhaustion."
